The Dogs came about when Michael Herbert contacted me in 1989 about doing an all-electronic gig with computers playing sequenced midi parts, electronic keyboards, electronic drums played live on a midi controller, midi woodwind controller live, electric guitar and guitar synth played live. He had participated in the Northwest Electronic Musicians (NEMUS) 1st annual presentation and was asked to do a return engagement. He and I pooled our sequenced tracks along with one from Jim Charlier and one from Richard Warner, rehearsed once in the basement of a ballet studio and played the next night at what is now the Tractor Tavern in the Ballard district of Seattle.
